A 4.000 year old Super Fabric - El Solitario

A 4.000 year old Super Fabric

For over 4000 years silk has been the Apex Textile, therefore its price, but this isn’t why El Solitario has chosen this amazing super fabric to accompany us in our motorized adventures.

Silk is the fine thread with which a silkworm spins its cocoon. The silkworm pupates in its cocoon and emerges 20 days later as a moth. The thread, which is produced by the spinning glands of the silkworm, is the finest and strongest natural fiber in the world.

Silk is a protein fiber, meaning that is chemically quite similar to human skin, reason why silk is the most hypoallergenic of all fabrics. Silk does not attract dust mites and is a natural fungal repellant. It’s also antimicrobial, antiviral, and antibacterial because of the presence of copper, incorporated by animals into their fiber.

Silk Insulates: Cools and warms simultaneously, this is why it’s perfect for summer and winter. It can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture, (Rain! Anyone?), without feeling damp or bulky. Resists odors and dries quickly. Silk does not conduct static electricity.

El Solitario scarves are hand made in France in the city of Lyon, epicenter of Europe’s Silk Industry, by A Piece Of Chic.
