GONZO & THE POWER OF NO

After 18 years in our garage, it was great to ride her again and even more in these simple, mutant looks… NO seat, NO fenders, NO silencers, … pitifully it didn’t last long… Lets enjoy the NO cool!@#$%^&*/

ESMC EXCLUSIVE: MISS HYDE KTM 950

ESMC is very proud to be the first media to publish (& ride on La Bañeza’s streets last weekend!) our dear friend Osiyuyu’s, intimidating motorcycle. Osiyuyu is a recognized antique art restorer and ever since his early days in Bilbao, as a Fine Arts University Scholar, has always felt the need to merge the artistic force that has always driven him, with his other passion; bikes. First shots at this movement were the wild transformations on his old vespas and as years passed, the scope broadened and now the aim was on one of his scariest toys: Miss Hyde! This 2006 carbureted KTM 950 SM has been tuned and agitated in order to become the killer monster that you may observe in the pics below. Not being a professional bike builder but wanting to remain in control of absolutely every aspect in the process, Osiyuyu had to manage a team of professionals & friends around him, to realize his ultimate dream. After a long year’s hard work (and a great dose of, by now released, frustration), we can easily feel the nerve and the obsession for detail, of the author’s eloquent mind, in her provocative stance. All custom fabrication was

DAYS 6&7: MADRID / NAVACERRADA / SORIA / PAMPLONA / AINHOA / ORTHEZ / NOGARO / PAU / DONOSTIA / BURGOS / LEON / ORENSE / HOME

Riding 1.600 kilometers in 2 days ended up being quite a nightmare. Left Madrid with Cesar from (Acero Recycling Bicycles), in a bright Friday afternoon, through Navacerrada, on our way to Soria. Next morning, after a goodnight sleep on a church’s courtyard, only ruptured by the freaking grass sprinklers!@#$%!! … awaited La Rioja, Pamplona and the Pyrenees!! Ahead was one of the most beautiful roads we had ever experienced on a motorcycle. Riding in couple (Great Cesar!) on back country roads is pure Soul-Food. In almost 800 kilometers only “suffered” about 10 kilometers of arid highways filled with vacationers and their silly tinned wheels. Arrived at the Paul Armagnac Circuit at 5:00pm just on time for Kris’s last Saturday run on the track. Friends, laughs, paella, (Dani!) lots of rain and a good nite sleep (Dani & Rodrigo!! HaHa!!). Zzzzz ZZZzzzzz zzzzZZZZ… The next morning after a hot tea, and the impossibility of finding a croissant, we were decided to face fate. Raining skies and the will to arrive to Galicia were always menacing. Juxtaposed to the rider’s heaven experienced on the way up, the return was a living hell. 800 highway kms… just couldn’t bear it… In Burgos thought

4 HOURS SPA CLASSICS RACES

Our dear friend and talented photographer Kristina Fender was in Spa Francorchamps covering the last 4 Hours Classic Spa Endurance Races. This roller-coaster track, courses along the Ardennes Mountains and contains every conceivable challenge a racer could wish for, and on top of this, the worlds toughest corner: The Eau Rouge. Kris (she is also an active sidecar racer!) has an astounding ability to capture the essence & hidden spirit of motorcycle races, the people and its atmosphere. From the ESMC Blog we want to thank her, for giving us this exclusive selection of pictures to share with you, and we send all our love! For those query minds that never feel satisfied *(yes you!!) please visit her blog HERE and don’t forget to add it to your favorites, as her adventures will grow bigger and bigger and that’s for granted.

JR’S SWEET R75/5

Unfortunately it’s not often that we can feature a spanish bike with the kind of attitude that we DIG. Because of this lackness of COOL we face on our streets, we’re very happy to share with you, JR’s 100% garage built Beemer. This runner sits proud and cheeky, kicking ass daily on Madrid’s stop lights. JR is a big fan of the 75/5 and when he found this 1972 unit, he didn’t think it twice before jumping on her. Originally a Belgium bike, was imported and registered in Spain under historic plates. Once resting in his garage, JR rushed to the grinders and shaved off the clumsy lookin subframe, adding the sweet “Speedster” tail that she irreverently shows off now. Other mods; are the lower shocks that balance the stance, blacked (Wassell style) ribbed fender, classic Ford Model A rear light in an upright position, custom seat, Firestone Deluxe Classics (400.19 on the front and 450.18 on the rear), Renthal MX bars, shortened pipes and a classy & well executed 2 tone paint to finish the deal. As JR shouts:“… is not a bobber, not a chopper not a racer… its just a F***ing ROD BIKE that never rests!” COOL!

After a long year’s hard work (and a great dose of, by now released, frustration), we can easily feel the nerve and the obsession for detail, of the author’s eloquent mind, in her provocative stance. All custom fabrication was done by local shop owner and mate Raul Inox. Miss Hyde’s tank insignia was carried out by our buddy Raulowsky and the painting was commissioned to Lana’s Paintshop. Last but not least, all the mechanical & electrical work was carried out by Tino Mallo. Of course, and according to the bike’s owner, Miss Hyde is not finished and will never be! Same as it should happen with any other form of artwork. MISS HYDE’S SPECS: 2006 KTM 950 SM. Wheels: 2x 17′ Kineo with Pirelli Phantoms. Brakes: 2x 320mm Brembo Front Discs and Calipers. Custom Fabricated: Subframe, Battery Relocation under Fuel Tank and Front Fender. Fuel Tank: Chopped Honda CB 750 F, with 10 LT capacity. Handlebars: Neken for KTM Racing with EMIG Racing Triple Trees. Rear Cowl: Carbon Fiber Vespa PK seat. SAS and EFC systems were condemned for improved performance as well as the Motohooligan airbox and Cayenne filter for a new total output of 110+ HP. Pipes: Laser GP Extreme. Rizoma Mirrors and License Plate Holder. Photography by Kristina Fender.

Finally at 10:00pm made it home. At arrival, greased, torn and broken, when asked where I was last… say… Monday? I had to squeeze my brain and guess… but the biggest grin crossed my face! FTW! PS: To the Camembert tart that stole my Ltd. Edt. Supreme Golden Frogskins: Fuck you! sure you don’t deserve them. All photographs by ElSolitarioMC & Kristina Fender
