E T H OS | 30/03/2017

Ethos is a Greek word meaning character, that is used to describe the guiding beliefs or ideals that characterize a community, nation, or ideology. Ethos is everything.

We the wolves believe in hard work and to treat others as we want to be treated ourselves. We also believe that snake oil sellers and false prophets are the worst illness that any given community can suffer, though should be fiercely eradicated.

Recently we were surrounded by some of these dogs. The kind that try to buy their place in the story, without anything to give.

This little movie is dedicated to them so they can learn what to expect.

You don’t have a fucking chance perros!

EL SOLITARIO NEVER WORK JACKET WITH THE CONCRETE MADRID | 24/03/2017

It is only natural that El Solitario and The Concrete Co. collaborated in the creation of a unique garment.

Fernando is known for being an atypical tailor, bringing the fabrics normally associated with workwear to the traditional artisan technique of tailoring, creating elegant, comfortable and durable pieces, Since the first time we met him, I could see the fire in the back of his eyes, acknowledging in a brisk that he was a perfectionist. We both knew that we wanted to work together so it was just a matter of time that the “Never Work” jacket happened.

AN EL SOLITARIO HANGOVER | 22/02/2017

The house looked like a police narcotics lab. We had two bags of grass, seventy five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. All this had been rounded up the night before, in a frenzy of high speed driving, we picked up everything we could get our hands on. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

Getting back on wheels was another story

A film by Pablo Goikoetxea, Pio Cribeiro and El Solitario

BORO | 16/12/2016

In our endless crusade to experiment with new concepts and ideas, this time we have cooked a limited edition of one-of-a-kind Boro Panhead blue jeans. Boro, is a term from early Japan and means something tattered or repaired. Boro textiles represent essential principles of traditional Japanese ethics and aesthetics such as the favoring of the sober and modest or shibui; the acceptance of transience and imperfection or wabi-sabi; and, of course, regret about any waste, or mottainai.

Wrecked and abused till exhaustion, we repaired these special Panheads, using rare and antique Japanese fabrics, ranging from circa 1850’s~1930’s, we have been collecting over the years in our different trips to Japan. Combining Katazome and Shibori scraps, with Sashiko sewing techniques, we’ve embossed a creative and individual flare to each garment, showing us the value of time and care, not money.

Each El Solitario® Boro pair of jeans is by definition absolutely unique, made by hand in our studio, and should be valued as highly collectable wearable art.
