En 79 días, vuelta al mundo en Vespa
Santiago Guillén & Antonio Veciana
Ed.: CIE S.L
Around the world on a Vespa? In 79 days? And….in Spain 1962? Well, yes! These two spanish guys in their 20´s, Santiago Guillén and Antonio Veciana, had this idea inspired by Michael Anderson´s film “Around the world in 80 days”.
They circumnavigated the globe riding “Dulcinea”, their 150 GS Vespa, crossing France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Malasya, Hong Kong, Japan, the United States, returned via the UK, France again and arriving to Spain 79 days later. It was the first recorded motorcycle trip around the world.
Even Dalí supported “Operación Elcano”, as they called it, painting the Vespa with the name of his muse, Gala.
